For example, a shelf that looks like it can hold more Battle Decks can actually hold fewer than you might expect. The Corner Shelf is even more confusing because its left and right sides can have different storage.

The Collectors Album is another item where the Corner Shelf sides are different. The left side gives a penalty, while the right side gives a bonus.

You can also put System Gate 1/2 and Mafia Works on the Corner Shelf to get extra storage. However, the games can clip into the shelf and flicker. The Long Shelf is a better choice for these games.

The best shelf for one item is not always the best shelf for your shop. A shelf can give an item extra storage but still take up more room than another option.
If you are not sure which shelves to buy, here is what you need to know about each one.
One-sided Shelf
The One-sided Shelf is a basic shelf and doesn’t give you a lot of storage for the space it takes.
The good thing is that you can see the bottom shelf without crouching.
Two-sided Shelf
The Two-sided Shelf is a good choice for general storage.
You can put items on both sides, so you get plenty of storage without filling the shop with too many separate shelves.
Metal Rack
Don’t let its cheap look fool you. The Metal Rack gives you a lot of storage while taking up less space.
It is one of the better choices when you care about storage. The only downside is that it doesn’t look as nice as the other shelves.
Single Cabinet
The Single Cabinet has decent storage efficiency and is also useful for items that work better with cabinet storage.
It also gives you more storage when you use two of them instead of one Double Cabinet.
Double Cabinet
The Double Cabinet isn’t a great choice for storage.
Two Single Cabinets give you more storage, so you are better off using those instead.
Long Shelf
The Long Shelf isn’t very efficient for storage, but it looks good in the shop.
It can also be useful for items such as System Gate 1/2 and Mafia Works.
Corner Shelf
The Corner Shelf is a large endgame shelf with a lot of storage.
Some items can also get extra storage depending on which side you use. The shelf costs $5,000, so it is quite expensive.
Also, remember that the two sides are different. The left and right sides can hold different amounts of the same item.
Box Shelf
The Box Shelf is another large endgame option.
It can hold a lot of merchandise, and some items get extra storage when you use it. It costs $4,000, so it makes more sense once you have enough money to spend on large storage.

Why Do Some Shelves Hold More or Less?
The number shown in a shelf’s description doesn’t always tell you how many of one item it can hold.
For example, smaller shelves have around 32 slots, while the Long/Wide Shelf has 64 slots. You might think that it can hold twice as many items, but that isn’t always the case.
A Single Sided Shelf can hold 9 Battle Decks, while the larger shelf holds 15, not 18. This means Battle Decks get less storage on that shelf.
Some items work the other way and get extra storage on certain shelves.
The Corner Shelf is a little different because its left and right sides can hold different amounts of the same item.
