Making money fast in DressMaker is very important when you’re making expensive dresses. You will need gold for fabrics, accessories, and other materials, and the cost can add up very fast.
I found that selling dresses from the shelf is the quickest way to make good money compared to doing commission jobs. You can start with a cheap dress, sell it for a profit, and then use that money to make a more expensive one.
Sell Shelf Dresses for Profit
When you make a dress and sell it from the shelf, the sale price is based on the materials, sewing time, Quality, and Prestige.
The formula works roughly like this:
(Materials + Time spent sewing) × ([Quality + Prestige – 100] / 100) = Sell Price
For example, a dress made with 500 gold worth of materials, 150 Quality, and 110 Prestige can sell for around 805 gold.
So even a fairly simple dress can give you more money than you put into it.

Add Expensive Accessories
Once you have some starting gold, you can make much more valuable dresses.
The easiest way to push the price up is to use expensive fabrics and accessories. You can also stack accessories on top of each other.
For example, you can hold Shift and keep clicking to place multiple accessories in the same spot. I used Ruby Broches this way, stacking them over the chest area.
With around 98 Ruby Broches layered onto the dress, the dress itself was worth about 6,576 gold. After the labor and bonuses, it sold for around 11,239 gold.

That’s where this money-making method starts getting interesting.
Reinvest the Money
You don’t have to make one huge dress right now.
Start with a dress you can afford, sell it, and put some of that money into the next one. Once you have enough gold for better materials and accessories, you’ll see that the value of each dress has climbed very quickly.
Even if you make 2 or 3 high-value dresses, they can give you a large amount of gold to work with. That is usually enough to cover the expensive dress requests from your favorite girls without constantly worrying about your wallet.
So if you’re short on money or gold in DressMaker, don’t spend all your time taking commission jobs. Make valuable dresses, put them on the shelf, and sell them for profit. Once you have enough gold, adding expensive accessories can make a big difference to the selling price.
