As you know that Dressmaker doesn’t have a zipper option or studs, spikes, or rivets feature in its base game. But you can add a zipper to your dress using bell trim. Basically, we will be faking the zipper on the dress, and it will not be a functional zipper. You won’t be able to open or close the clothing with it, but it will make your dress look like it has a zipper.
You can add a zipper by placing two rows of small bells close together so they look like zipper teeth. You can also add a bell, tassel, or chainmail piece as the zipper pull to make the design look more realistic. No mods are needed.
How to Make a Zipper in Dressmaker
1. Draw the First Zipper Line
Select the silver or gold flared bell trim and draw a line where you want the zipper on your clothing.
Select the trim you just placed and shrink it until the bells look small enough to resemble zipper teeth.
2. Add the Second Line
Draw another line beside the first one, but make the bells face the opposite direction. Keep both lines close together.
Move the second line up or down until the bells on both sides fit between each other. Adjust the position until the two rows look like interlocking zipper teeth.
3. Add a Zipper Pull
The zipper will feel more real when you add a small piece at one end. You can use any of these decorations to create the pull:
- A single bell
- A tassel
- A single piece of chainmail
Place your chosen decoration at the top or bottom of the zipper, depending on your design.
Where to Use Your Custom Zipper
This trick works best on open jackets, where the zipper design is easy to see. You can also try different trim colors and sizes to match your outfit.
Keep the bells small and line up both rows to make them look like real zipper teeth. Remember, this is only a decorative zipper. It won’t actually open or close your clothing, so it cannot be used to fasten a dress or jacket. It only makes your outfit look like it has a zipper, and you don’t need any mods to create it.
