Do you know that you can make your character say “I’m gonna rat” in Deadlock? You have to just add the Going to Rat! voice line to your Chat Wheel, and your character will start saying “I am going to Rat!” whenever you want.
You can find the Rat line in the communication settings. Once you assign it to a Chat Wheel slot, you can use it during a match with the default middle mouse button.
How to Add “Going to Rat!” to the Chat Wheel
Follow these steps to set up the voice line:
- Open Settings in Deadlock.
- Tap on the Communication section.
- Select any empty Chat Wheel slot.
- Open the Chat Wheel settings from the drop-down.
- Scroll through the options and find Going to Rat!
- Select it to assign the voice line to that slot.

You can use any slot you want.
How to Use the “I’m Gonna Rat” Voice Line
Once you assign Going to Rat! to your Chat Wheel, you can use it during a match.
By default, hold the middle mouse button to open the Chat Wheel. Move your cursor over Going to Rat! and release the button to play the voice line.
The line is voiced by the character you are playing, so it can sound different depending on your hero.
Does Every Character Say “I’m Gonna Rat”?
The voice line is available for most characters, but there may be exceptions depending on the current Deadlock voice-line updates.
For example, Sinclair does not have the updated voice line.
Can You Spam the Rat Voice Line?
The voice line has a cooldown, just like other Deadlock voice lines.
You cannot repeatedly trigger it with no delay, so don’t think you can spam it constantly during a match.
The line is only a fun way to tell your team that you are about to make a sneaky play or split from the group.
What Does “Ratting” Mean in Deadlock?
In this context, ratting means playing away from the main team fight and trying to make progress somewhere else.
For example, you might leave your teammates fighting the enemy while you push a lane or try to sneak an objective.
The term comes from the same kind of strategy used in other competitive games, where a player avoids the main fight and tries to win through a sneaky side play.
