If you’ve finished Mesmalie once and can’t figure out how to access Act 4, you’re not alone. The game doesn’t reveal what to do and the exact required step, but I am here to guide you to unlock this secret ending.
This guide will explain exactly how to unlock the fourth act, along with the item’s location you’ll need and where to find both mirror pictures.
How to Unlock Act 4 in Mesmalie
If you’ve completed your first playthrough, start a New Game instead of loading an old save.
During the opening section, interact with every character and objects before moving to the second session. There’s a hidden NPC in the first session and you need to speak with it to unlock act 4. Once you finish their request, it will unlock a new story choice later in the game, which eventually leads to Act 4.
Step 1: Talk to the Creature in the Cage
Before leaving the Study Room during the second session, inspect the creature locked inside the cage.
This is the same creature that warned you to not continue the ritual. Keep talking until you’ve completed all of its dialogue. Later, it will ask you to gather three items.
Step 2: Collect the Required Items
The creature needs:

| Pen | Use your Magick on the sofa to reveal a feather, then pick it up. |
| Ink | Use your Magick in Mesmer’s room and collect the bowl of paint. |
Once, you’ve collected all the items, Give them to the creature.
Step 3: Continue the Story
After completing the creature’s request, continue playing as normal.
Eventually you’ll reach a checkpoint where a brain icon will appear in the top-right corner of the screen. After seeing this checkpoint, you can safely return to the main menu.
Step 4: Start Session 3 Again
From the main menu, reload the game at the beginning of Session 3.
As you progress, you’ll reach the moment just before setting a trap for the deer. A new dialogue option will now appear. Choose it to continue onto the hidden route that leads to Act 4.
Where to Find Both Mirror Pictures
If you’re trying to complete the mirror puzzle, you’ll need two different pictures.
Malady’s Picture Location
You can obtain Malady’s picture by reading the note near the refrigerator. Once you’ve read it, the picture will spawn.
Mirphie’s Picture Location
There are two ways to collect Mirphie’s picture.
- During the Deep Wood section, follow the creature rather than take the normal path. The picture is located in the field beyond the edge of the forest.
- If you miss it, another copy can be found during Act 4 in the kitchen.
To open Act 4, you need to start a new game, fulfill the caged creature’s request, and then return to Session 3 after reaching the special checkpoint. These steps can be easily missed on a first run because the game never tells you about them.
