Transport Fever 3: How to Move Passengers to Another Terminal

Transport Fever 3: How to Move Passengers to Another Terminal

So I was playing Transport Fever 3, and one of my stations started getting more passengers than a single terminal could handle. Hundreds of passengers were waiting at one terminal; the line could not keep up, and passenger satisfaction started dropping.

Then I noticed that another terminal at the same station had a line going to the same destination, and it still had plenty of space.

Instead of rebuilding the station or buying more vehicles right away, I found a way to send some of those waiting passengers to the other terminal. The fix is simple and only requires changing one setting in the Line Manager.

How to Move Passengers to Another Terminal

First, open the Line Manager for the line using the overcrowded terminal.

Then follow these steps:

  1. Select the stop at the overcrowded terminal.
  2. Open the loading settings for that stop.
  3. Find Passengers.
  4. Uncheck Passengers.

That’s all you have to do.

Now passengers can no longer board that line from the overcrowded terminal. They will then look for another way to reach their destination.

If another terminal at the same station has a line going to the same destination, they will walk to that terminal and wait there instead.

The same can happen with another nearby terminal if it is close enough to reach on foot.

Why Does This Work?

Passengers are not tied to one specific terminal. They are trying to find a route to their destination.

So when you stop passenger loading at one terminal, they can look for another available route.

For example, suppose Terminal A has a huge crowd, but Terminal B has another line going to the same destination with plenty of empty seats.

Disable Passengers at Terminal A.

The waiting passengers can then move toward Terminal B and use that service instead.

When Should You Use This?

This trick is useful when one line is too crowded, but another line going to the same destination still has free space.

It is also a good temporary fix while you are working on the real solution.

For example, you can use it while you:

  • Add more vehicles to the busy line.
  • Increase the capacity of the line.
  • Build another terminal.
  • Change your routes.

This can quickly reduce the crowd at one terminal without rebuilding the whole station.

Don’t Move the Problem to Another Terminal

There is one thing you need to check before doing this.

Make sure the other terminal has a line that can actually take those passengers toward their destination.

If there is no suitable route nearby, those passengers will not have another useful option.

Also check how busy the other line is.

If that line is already full, you may just move the crowd from one terminal to another.

You Can Still Drop Passengers Off

Disabling Passengers at a stop only stops passengers from boarding there.

The stop can still work for passengers who need to get off there.

So you do not need to remove the stop from the line.

Remember to Enable Passengers Again

If you use this as a temporary fix, turn Passengers back on after you add more capacity.

Otherwise, passengers will continue to avoid boarding at that terminal.

The quick fix is:

Line Manager → Select the overcrowded stop → Loading settings → Uncheck Passengers.

Passengers can then use another nearby terminal if a suitable route is available.
