RetroSpace Achievements

RetroSpace Achievements & Collectibles Guide: All Locations

RetroSpace has many achievements you can unlock, including difficulty runs, challenge runs, story endings, collectibles, side quests, and enemy-related tasks. Some achievements are easy to miss, especially the ones linked to the alternate timeline, NPC quests, Mutamods, weapons, and different station areas.

This RetroSpace achievements and collectibles guide will help you complete each achievement’s requirements and point you to the locations you need. You will also find the collectible card locations, Mutamods, station areas, NPC side quests, enemy types, and other achievement requirements here.

RetroSpace Difficulty Achievements

Out of madness

Requirement: Finish the game on any difficulty.

Complete RetroSpace on Story, Normal, 1999, or Russ Kurtell difficulty. If you finish the game on a higher difficulty, then you can also unlock the achievements for the lower difficulties.

Gotcha, Boomer!

Requirement: Finish the game on 1999 mode.

Complete the game while playing on 1999 difficulty.

I’m MacReady!

Requirement: Finish the game on Russ Kurtell difficulty.

This is the highest difficulty achievement listed here, so you will need to complete the game while playing on Russ Kurtell mode.

RetroSpace Challenge Run Achievements

Some of the hardest RetroSpace achievements require you to complete an entire playthrough with a specific restriction.

For these runs, you can reload quick saves and auto saves when needed. Avoid manually backing up and overwriting save files, as this can cause quest or achievement problems.

Hobo for life

Requirement: Finish the game without spending money in vending machines.

Do not buy any food or drinks from vending machines during the playthrough.

You can still spend money on Mutamods, gadgets, and weapon upgrades. The restriction only applies to spending money on food and drinks.

Never there

Requirement: Finish the game without being detected by any enemy.

You must complete the game in ghost mode.

Check your statistics during the run. Enemies Alerted must remain at 0. Avoid actions that alert enemies, even if you do not get into combat.

Warren Wrenchman

Requirement: Finish the game using only the Power Wrench and HyperBroom to directly kill enemies.

Do not kill enemies directly with other weapons.

Environmental kills, enemy infighting, and kills made by friendly security do not count against this achievement.

This is NOT the way

Requirement: Finish the game without ever using a helmet.

The helmet provides the HUD, including the minimap, health bar, visibility/noise information, ammo count, and quest information.

It also provides oxygen tanks. Without the helmet, entering a gassed vent will start damaging your health.

For this achievement, never pick up the helmet during the entire playthrough.

Clean hands

Requirement: Finish the game without killing anyone, including robots and turrets.

Keep your Player Kills statistic at 0 throughout the run.

Environmental kills, enemy infighting, and kills made by friendly security do not count.

I prefer my payment in cash

Requirement: Collect 2,000 credits without dying.

You need to collect 2,000 credits during a run before dying for the first time.

There are roughly 6,000–7,000 credits available across the station and both timelines, so you need to collect a significant portion of the available money without dying.

Are you okay, buddy?

Requirement: Play for at least 1 hour while below 20% health.

Keep your health under 20% for a total of one hour.

This can be risky during normal gameplay. You can stay somewhere safe and wait, or reload saves if necessary.

RetroSpace Ending Achievements

RetroSpace also has achievements for the two main endings.

Too good to be true

Requirement: Reach the Good ending.

Choose The Golden Journey as your destination.

For the full ending requirements and post-ending scenes, check:

RetroSpace: All Endings & Post-Ending Scenes Guide

Not the best outcome…

Requirement: Reach the Bad ending.

Choose Earth as your destination.

Check the endings guide above if you want to see the different ending paths and post-ending scenes.

RetroSpace Collectibles Achievements

For many achievements, you need to collect or purchase specific items. Some of these are missable because certain items are tied to specific locations or timelines.

Muta-Freak

Requirement: Buy all Mutamods at least at Level 1.

There are 10 Mutamods to collect. Some are exclusive to a location or timeline, so do not leave them until the end of the game.

Here is the first location where each Mutamod can be found:

  1. Moth Light — Alt timeline Medical Section
  2. Rhino Body — Alt timeline Medical Section
  3. Skunk Bomb — Alt timeline Medical Section
  4. Unicellular — Alt timeline Medical Section
  5. Bat Hearing — Nexus Plaza, Train Station
  6. Pig’s Mouth — Engineering, bottom floor near a Pigman mutant
  7. Octopus Heart — Engineering, Marco’s office
  8. Grasshopper Legs — Borealis Garden, Garden D|C, room on the left when you enter
  9. Brain Parasite — Grand Station, Police Station, office near two back-to-back turrets
  10. Tentacle Hand — Alt timeline Borealis Garden, second floor

Brain Parasite and Tentacle Hand are marked as timeline-exclusive, so pay attention to the locations before moving on.

Higher difficulties also make purchases more expensive. On Russ Kurtell, you may not have enough money to buy every Mutamod, fully upgrade every weapon, and fully upgrade every gadget in the same run.

Tech-guru

Requirement: Buy all tech gadgets at least at Level 1.

This achievement can become missable on higher difficulties because upgrades and purchases cost more.

Plan your spending if you are trying to collect every Mutamod, weapon upgrade, and gadget upgrade in one playthrough.

I’m all out of bubblegum

Requirement: Fully upgrade every upgradeable weapon.

The weapons and tools you need to account for are:

  • Power Wrench

Hero we deserve

Find the pink unicorn plushie and get it to Mia.

You can find it in:

  • Alt timeline Medical Section
  • Current timeline Luxury Section’s Love Lounge
2. Find something for Nebula

Find the diary for Nebula.

The diary is inside Marco’s office, behind the painting.

3. The date

Talk to Mia and Joey before leaving for the alternate timeline to hunt super-beings.

You need to deliver their messages to each other.

4. The secret weapon

Find these three parts:

  • Omega Tachyon Projector — Grand Station – Control Zone, under the floor of the bar

Once you have the required parts, the secret weapon is placed on the workbench instead of being given by Marco.

5. Code name: Charley

Do not escape from the Crew Section.

You must deal with Charley by either killing it or completing the ritual with four heads.

Killing Charley takes a lot of ammunition, so using the four heads for the ritual is the other option.

6. Find a new head for Joey

Find Joey’s replacement head and return it to him.

The head is in the alt timeline Luxury Section – Private Rooms, where a Repli-baby is wearing it.

7. A piece of Rose

Deal with Rose without killing her.

Find a rose and a handwheel, then place them in/on the red container on the first floor.

8. Violet’s story

Find Violet in the alt timeline Great Dome, where she is in the pond.

Her note is in the alt timeline Borealis Garden – Laboratory, on a counter on the second floor.

The achievements also include Who is Dr. Nebula? and Who am I?, but these are part of the main story rather than optional side quests.

Radio Ga Ga

Requirement: Find at least 45 of the 48 audio logs.

You do not have to collect every audio log for the achievement. Collecting 45 out of 48 is enough.

The achievement is missable, so keep track of the logs you find during your playthrough.

For the full locations, check:

RetroSpace: All Audio Log Locations (Radio Ga Ga)

Psycho-mode!

Requirement: Kill at least 5 enemies of every normal enemy type.

RetroSpace General Achievements

Squat master

Requirement: Walk 5,000 steps while crouching.

Open your statistics and check Crouched Steps. The achievement unlocks once the number passes 5,000.

Score

Requirement: Dump 5 heads into recycling bins.

You can work on this early in Nexus Gardens.

Moth enemies can drop heads if they do not mutate into spiders. Take the heads to the recycling bins on the walls.

There are around five bins in this area, and one bin can usually hold two heads.

Bull in a china shop

Requirement: Trigger 50 enemy alarms.

Check your statistics and watch Enemies Alerted.

The achievement unlocks after the number goes above 50.

Better than therapy

Requirement: Get 50 kills by headshot.

The statistics track ranged headshots, but the achievement counts the final hit. Make sure the killing blow is a headshot.

Hygiene obsession

Requirement: Clean up 50 blood splatters.

Use the available cleaning tools around the station and keep cleaning blood until you reach 50.

Clean-O-Bot 3000

Requirement: Clean up 100 blood splatters.

This works the same way as Hygiene Obsession, but you need to reach 100 cleaned blood splatters.

Don’t care

Requirement: Step into 30 dangerous environmental puddles.

You can get this naturally while exploring dangerous areas.

For a faster method, the Moth Light Mutamod can help you create an acid puddle. Stand under the light, create an acid puddle in front of yourself, step into it, then move out and heal. Repeat the process until the achievement unlocks.

Evolutionary dead-end

Requirement: Have 3 cloning errors at the same time.

Die three times without treating the cloning errors at Heal-o-Dome or retrieving your corpse.

Once three cloning errors are active at the same time, the achievement will unlock.

The Master Exploder

Requirement: Build the secret weapon.

Collect these three components:

  • Voidfield-Pulse Condenser — Grand Station – Crew Section, behind a shelf on the second floor of one of the large halls
  • Trans-Space Harmonizer — Great Dome – Diner, behind the statue
  • Omega Tachyon Projector — Grand Station – Control Zone, under the floor of the bar

After collecting the parts, the secret weapon will spawn on the workbench.

The Rite

Requirement: Find a way to kill Charley.

Stay in the Crew Section instead of escaping.

You can kill Charley directly, but it will take a lot of ammunition. The other method is to place four heads in the ritual bowls.

For the security areas and locked locations, you may also need specific codes and passwords. Check:
