IRON NEST Gold Medal

IRON NEST Gold Medal Requirements – All Missions Guide

The exact figures for Gold Medals in the IRON NEST: Heavy Turret Simulator are not always visible on the mission screen. The game only displays the medal categories and not the specific numbers. Some of the requirements are also a little unusual, especially Average Accuracy, Triple Kill Time Window, Requisition Spent, and Kills Without Recon.

I checked the available medal requirements and player findings to put the exact Bronze, Silver, and Gold values in one place. I’ve also added useful tips for missions where the normal objective can conflict with a medal requirement.

How Gold Medals Work in IRON NEST?

Each mission may have a number of medals, and each medal has its own Bronze, Silver, and Gold thresholds.

Some requirements are simple. For example, the Allies Killed reward is given for keeping your friendly units alive. Others measure how efficiently you fire, how quickly you can get your first shot off, or how much requisition you use.

The main types of medal you will encounter in the game are as follows.

Allies Killed counts friendly units that die during the mission. It does not matter whether you were the one who killed them or whether another enemy was responsible for it. For Gold, you should aim for 0 allied deaths.

Enemies Killed counts enemy casualties during the mission. To get gold, you need to kill almost all the enemies in the mission.

Consecutive Kill Shots keeps a record of your kill streak. A miss or a non-lethal shell resets the streak to 0, so plan your shots carefully.

Kills-per-Shot Ratio measures the average number of kills you get per shot. In some missions, a minimum number of enemy kills is required before the ratio medal can count.

Requisition Spent works in the opposite direction on most missions. You need to spend less requisition to get the better medal. The exception is the Uncontested Front skirmish, which gives a reward for higher spending.

To get some Gold Medals, you need to fire quickly and keep your shots efficient. When the elevation computer is unavailable, you can still calculate the correct firing angle manually with the formula explained in our IRON NEST manual elevation calculation guide

Recons Requisitioned / Kills Without Recon requires you to kill enemies without buying aerial recon. If you spend requisition on a scout plane, this can invalidate this medal.

Seconds Until First Shot refers to the interval between the mission beginning and the moment you fire. Make it as quick as possible to have the Iron Nest loaded.

The Counter-Battery Time Left is determined by the timer shown above the paper rolls located at the back of the Iron Nest, and the higher the remaining time, the better medal you receive.

Kills With a Single Shell shows how many enemies you can kill with one shell, and it is available in the Uncontested Front skirmish.

Triple Kill Time Window tracks how fast you obtain three kill impacts. Although the precise method used by the game to calculate this statistic is not entirely clear, the listed thresholds are known.

IRON NEST: Gold Medal Requirements For All Missions

Calibration Fire

Calibration Fire has only one medal.

Medal IDRequirementBronzeSilverGold
shots_fired_1to3Shots fired, equal to or less than321

To get Gold, you must finish the mission with 1 shot or fewer.

The game also checks for zero shots as well, although there is no clear way to finish the mission without firing any shot.

Fire and Light

It also has only one medal.

Medal IDRequirementBronzeSilverGold
shots_fired_4to8Shots fired, equal to or less than864

For Gold, keep the total number of shots fired at 4 or fewer.

Liberation

Liberation has four medals.

Medal IDRequirementBronzeSilverGold
ally_kills_0to2Allies killed, equal to or less than210
avg_accuracy_50to250Average accuracy, equal to or less than310.3
kill_streak_3to6Consecutive kill shots, equal to or greater than356
req_spent_30to100Requisition spent, equal to or less than1006530

At the start of the game, the 30 requisition Gold requirement seems impossible because your available shells cost a lot.

You can return to Liberation later after unlocking cheaper shell types. The DRIL shell is especially useful because it costs only 3 requisition once it has been unlocked.

There is also a helpful method for carrying out this mission: fire a STAR shell to P4, use the scout data obtained to triangulate the position, then use DRIL shells against known enemy positions. The second STAR shell can show additional targets, but do not use it between kills if you are going for the consecutive-kill medal because it can break your streak.

Another important point is the recon order in Liberation. The mission may request you to requisition a recon flight over P4, for 60 requisition points, thus making it impossible to achieve the Gold requisition objective on that mission. Alternatively, you can use one or two STAR shells together with Forward Observers to locate the target without purchasing the plane.

There are also reports that the Liberation gold-medal achievement may require all four Gold medals in one attempt. This is not clearly confirmed, but players have managed to get all four during the same run.

Counter-Battery

Counter-Battery has four medal requirements.

Medal IDRequirementBronzeSilverGold
three_kill_window_30to90Triple kill time window90 or less45 or more10 or more
counter_battery_100to260Counter-battery time left, equal to or higher100200260
req_spent_30to100Requisition spent, equal to or less than1006530
enemy_kills_6to10Enemies killed, equal to or more689

The listed Triple Kill Time Window values appear to contain an error in the game’s medal data. The mission documentation currently shows 90 or less for Bronze, 45 or more for Silver, and 10 or more for Gold.

The Gold enemy-kill target is also 9, not 10, despite the 6to10 medal ID suggesting otherwise.

For the Counter-Battery medal, keep the timer as high as possible. Do not wait around once the mission starts.

Iron Road

Iron Road has four medals.

Medal IDRequirementBronzeSilverGold
ally_kills_0to2Allies killed, equal to or less than210
kill_streak_5to20Consecutive kill shots, equal to or greater than51020
kill_shot_ratio_0.8to2_10killsKills per shot, with at least 10 enemy kills0.81.52
no_recon_with_killsKills without recon

The most difficult part here is the 20-kill streak. You need to chain 20 lethal hits without missing or firing a non-lethal shell.

There was also some confusion about the number of targets in Iron Road. Player testing found 19 obvious enemy targets, including the five targets that leave the train after it reaches waypoint A, as well as the infantry and other targets in the town.

It doesn’t mean that you have to eliminate a fellow ally in order to meet the requirement. The exact number of targets can vary depending on what the mission spawns and on how the events play out.

Siege of Cartagena

Medal IDRequirementBronzeSilverGold
ally_kills_0to2Allies killed, equal to or less than210
enemy_kills_6to15Enemies killed, equal to or greater than61115
no_recon_with_killsKills without recon
req_spent_50to180Requisition spent, equal to or less than18010050

To get Gold, you need 15 enemy kills, no allied deaths, and no recon for the relevant medal.

Spend requisition 50 or less for the Gold requisition medal.

The Gorge

Medal IDRequirementBronzeSilverGold
ally_kills_0to2Allies killed, equal to or less than210
kill_streak_4to10Consecutive kill shots, equal to or greater than4710
enemy_kills_10to30Enemies killed, equal to or greater than102030
kill_shot_ratio_0.8to2_10killsKills per shot, with at least 10 enemy kills0.81.52

For Gold, you need 30 enemy kills, a 10-kill streak, and a 2.0 kills-per-shot ratio.

The ratio also requires at least 10 total enemy kills, so getting a good ratio with a few targets is not enough.

Rock of Gibraltar

Medal IDRequirementBronzeSilverGold
ally_kills_0to2Allies killed, equal to or less than210
enemy_kills_1to2Enemies killed, equal to or greater than012
no_recon_with_killsKills without recon
req_spent_10to30Requisition spent, equal to or less than302010

Gold requires 2 enemy kills, 0 allied deaths, no recon for the relevant medal, and only 10 requisition or less.

The no-recon medal appears to be unreliable at the moment, so do not be surprised if the result does not match what you expected.

Dead Reckoning

Medal IDRequirementBronzeSilverGold
ally_kills_0to2Allies killed, equal to or less than210
kill_streak_3to6Consecutive kill shots, equal to or greater than356
enemy_kills_6to15Enemies killed, equal to or greater than61115
req_spent_30to100Requisition spent, equal to or less than1006530

For Gold, finish with 0 allied deaths, get 6 consecutive kills, kill 15 enemies, and spend less than 30 requisition.

Fire on Call

Medal IDRequirementBronzeSilverGold
ally_kills_0to2Allies killed, equal to or less than210
enemy_kills_10to30Enemies killed, equal to or greater than102030
kill_shot_ratio_0.8to2_10killsKills per shot, with at least 10 enemy kills0.81.52
no_recon_with_killsKills without recon

To get Gold, get 30 enemy kills and a 2.0 kills-per-shot ratio, while keeping all allies alive and avoiding recon for the relevant medal.

High Tide

High Tide currently has an unusual medal setup.

Medal IDRequirementBronzeSilverGold
kill_streak_3to6Consecutive kill shots, equal to or greater than356
three_kill_window_30to90Triple kill time window90 or less45 or more10 or more
avg_accuracy_50to250Average accuracy, equal to or less than310.3
kill_streak_3to6Consecutive kill shots, equal to or greater than356

Yes, Consecutive Kill Shots appears twice.

That looks like a mistake in the current mission data. For now, the duplicate requirement does not create an additional challenge, so you have one less unique requirement to worry about.

The Average Accuracy stat is also not fully understood. The listed Gold value is 0.3, but the game’s normal shot accuracy display uses percentages. The internal stat may be measuring something different from the accuracy percentage shown during the mission.

Blind Fire

Medal IDRequirementBronzeSilverGold
req_spent_50to180Requisition spent, equal to or less than18010050
kill_streak_3to6Consecutive kill shots, equal to or greater than356
enemy_kills_5to20Enemies killed, equal to or greater than51020
no_recon_with_killsKills without recon

For Gold, kill 20 enemies, reach a 6-kill streak, spend 50 requisition or less, and avoid recon for the relevant medal.

Phantom Battery

Medal IDRequirementBronzeSilverGold
no_recon_with_killsKills without recon
enemy_kills_6to10Enemies killed, equal to or more689
avg_accuracy_50to250Average accuracy, equal to or less than310.3
counter_battery_100to260Counter-battery time left, equal to or higher100200260

Gold requires 9 enemy kills, 0.3 or less Average Accuracy, and 260 seconds or more remaining on the counter-battery timer.

Final Harvest

Medal IDRequirementBronzeSilverGold
ally_kills_0to2Allies killed, equal to or less than210
no_recon_with_killsKills without recon
enemy_kills_10to30Enemies killed, equal to or greater than102030
first_shot_fast_with_killsFirst shot time, with enemy-kill requirement1208050

To get Gold, you must have 30 enemy kills, no allied deaths, and fire your first shot within 50 seconds.

Load your first shell immediately when the mission starts. You can aim while the loading animation is running, so there’s no need to spend the first few seconds trying to align your shot before you start to load.

White Shells Endings

Instead of just requiring medals, the White Shells mission has four possible endings.

Player testing has clarified that you do not always need the exact shell originally listed for an ending. What matters is the shell category and the place where the shell lands.

Ending 1 – Peaceful Shell

Use a peaceful shell, such as:

  • Propaganda
  • Smoke
  • STAR

The shell doesn’t need to strike a target. It only needs to land inside the city borders.

Ending 2 – Non-Lethal Shell

Use a non-lethal shell, such as:

  • Tear Gas
  • Other gas-type shells

Again, the shell does not have to hit an enemy. A landing inside the city borders will trigger the ending.

Ending 3 – Destroy the Allied Artillery

For this ending, you need to destroy all Allied artillery.

This one does not follow the peaceful/non-lethal/lethal shell grouping used by the other endings.

Ending 4 – Lethal Shell

Use any lethal shell, such as:

  • DRIL
  • HE
  • AP
  • Other lethal shell types

The shell can hit any location inside the city borders. It does not have to directly hit a target.

Skirmish – Challenge – Counter Battery Timer

The Counter Battery Timer challenge currently has these known requirements:

Medal IDRequirementBronzeSilverGold
no_recon_with_killsKills without recon???
first_shot_fast_with_killsFirst shot time + enemy-kill requirement1208050
kill_shot_ratio_0.8to1.5_20killsKills per shot, with at least 20 enemy kills0.81.21.5
kill_streak_5to20Consecutive kill shots51020

The exact Kills Without Recon values are still unknown.

For Gold, aim for a 1.5 kills-per-shot ratio, kill at least 20 enemies, and maintain a 20-kill streak.

Skirmish – Chill – Uncontested Front

Medal IDRequirementBronzeSilverGold
kill_shot_ratio_0.8to1.5_20killsKills per shot, with at least 20 enemy kills0.81.21.5
kill_streak_5to20Consecutive kill shots51020
req_spent_high_150to600Requisition spent, equal to or greater than150350600
single_impact_kills_2to5Kills with a single shell, equal to or greater than235

To aim for Gold, you need to spend at least 600 requisition, reach a 20-kill streak, maintain a 1.5 kills-per-shot ratio, and kill 5 enemies with a single shell.

So don’t try to save requisition on this mission.

Quick IRON NEST Gold Medal Reference

The most important Gold targets are:

MissionGold requirements
Calibration Fire1 shot or less
Fire and Light4 shots or less
Liberation0 allies killed, 0.3 accuracy stat, 6-kill streak, 30 requisition or less
Counter-Battery10-second triple-kill window, 260+ counter-battery time, 30 requisition or less, 9 kills
Iron Road0 allies killed, 20-kill streak, 2.0 kills/shot with 10+ kills
Siege of Cartagena0 allies killed, 15 kills, no recon, 50 requisition or less
The Gorge0 allies killed, 10-kill streak, 30 kills, 2.0 kills/shot
Rock of Gibraltar0 allies killed, 2 kills, no recon, 10 requisition or less
Dead Reckoning0 allies killed, 6-kill streak, 15 kills, 30 requisition or less
Fire on Call0 allies killed, 30 kills, 2.0 kills/shot, no recon
High Tide6-kill streak, 10-second triple-kill window, 0.3 accuracy stat
Blind Fire50 requisition or less, 6-kill streak, 20 kills, no recon
Phantom Battery9 kills, 0.3 accuracy stat, 260+ counter-battery time, no recon
Final Harvest0 allies killed, 30 kills, first shot within 50 seconds, no recon
Counter Battery Timer20-kill streak, 1.5 kills/shot with 20+ kills, first shot within 50 seconds
Uncontested Front20-kill streak, 1.5 kills/shot with 20+ kills, 600+ requisition, 5 kills in one shell

Some of the medal values are clearly the result of incomplete or wrong mission data. High Tide has a duplicate kill-streak medal, Counter-Battery seems to have an incorrect description for a triple kill, and the Rock of Gibraltar recon medal might not function properly. If a medal fails to activate even though you have met the stated requirement, keep these problems in mind.

When the requirements for a mission are very strict, wait to carry out those missions until you have obtained cheaper shells; specifically, the DRIL shell can make some of the early Gold requirements seem much more realistic.
