Sengoku Rance Walkthrough: All Routes, Choices & Events

Sengoku Rance has many routes, faction events, character events, and choices that can change the outcome of the game’s ending. Some routes are locked behind specific events, while several characters need to reach certain affection levels before you can continue their story.

This Sengoku Rance walkthrough will cover the main story routes, route requirements, faction events, character recruitment, affection events, and important choices.

Affection and Event Terms

You will see these terms throughout the walkthrough:

Normal → Trust → Love: These are three affection levels.
Max affection event: A choice event that appears when a character’s affection bar is full.
Select event: An event that appears when you select the character. It has no special condition.
Clear: The character reaches their character-clear status.
H-scene / CG: Adult event scenes and event pictures.

Main Story Routes

Canon Route

Your first playthrough always starts with the Canon route.

The story is split into two parts. The second half begins after 5 sealing gourds break, and several story events change after this point.

If you search for Kouhime, your action points will drop to zero.

The Three Boss Battles

You will eventually fight three major bosses:

An army battle.
Byakko in a one-on-one battle. Byakko transforms, so you fight it twice.
The Demon (魔人) in another one-on-one battle.

Byakko charges before using its area attack. Rizna’s magic immunity works against this attack.

Demon Takes Control of Shimazu

After several turns, the Demon will take control of Shimazu.

Shimazu then destroys the factions next to it. This can include factions that already surrendered to you, so do not think surrendered factions are safe.

The soul binding infection event follows.

Soldiers affected by soul binding reduce your maximum troop count when they attack. You need to defend it carefully once this starts.

How to Stop Gikai

After this section, Gikai will appear whenever you attack.

Gikai burns one of the characters you deployed until that character is gone. If you send Rance, you will get a game over.

The exact trigger for Gikai’s attack is not fully confirmed. He can even burn a character carrying the lucky cat.

Only characters that were deployed before can be targeted. Using expendable characters can help absorb these attacks.

To stop Gikai, complete the region event:

Think of a plan against Gikai

After that event, send Rance into battle, and your whole team can attack Gikai together.

Izumo, Cairo, and the Apostles

After taking Izumo, you will automatically take the nearby regions up to Cairo.

Do not attack Cairo instantly. If you attack it, the Demon army will keep counterattacking because its apostles have unlimited troops.

Wait until an apostle goes to duel Kentarou.

During this event, Shikibu fights Kentarou. Kentarou can lose if his level is too low.

Take Kentarou into the dungeon or trigger his travel around region event before this happens.

Finding Miki

Later, you need to search the locations where Miki can be found.

The required exploration levels are:

Saving Sill

Later in the story, Sill will be frozen in ice.

Do not let Demon King Miki use her power to free Sill. Doing so will give you a game over.

Shimazu Brothers

When you attack the Demon, the four Shimazu brothers launch a surprise attack.

Your attacking team fights their army, followed by a duel. After this duel, your action points will be 0.

When you attack the Demon army again later, the remaining Shimazu brothers die one at a time through story battles.

Madou and Genbu

After taking South Africa, two RPG battles begin:

Madou
Genbu

Win both fights to remove the curse. Your action points become 0 afterward.

Battle of Tenmabashi

After taking every Demon army region, the Battle of Tenmabashi will start.

You will fight:

A boss team battle.
A vanguard army battle.

Rance and Kentarou must deploy in the boss team.

Demon King Nobunaga attacks every unit at once. The attack does not affect invincible Rizna.

If both Rance and Kentarou fall, Nobunaga’s damage becomes 0. Bring a miko healer for this fight.

Route Branches

After clearing the Canon route, you can access:

Isoroku Route
Ran Route
Kenshin Route

There is also a Demon King Route, which is a Bad End.

Canon and Isoroku Route Requirement

In the Canon or Isoroku route, explore Underground Mikan Farm to obtain the Taiwan lemon.

If you skip this, the Demon King route can start after several turns.

Kenshin Route Requirement

After 4 sealing gourds break, but before the fifth one breaks, trigger the Uesugi event.

The event shows the Uesugi Route label.

The Amaterasu (Hachimaki) arrival event follows.

Ran Route Requirement

Before the fifth sealing gourd breaks:

Finish Ran’s required events.
Clear the oil hole.

This will start the Ran route.

Isoroku Route Requirement

After the fifth gourd breaks, Kouhime is kidnapped.

You must search for her, or the game ends after several turns.

Choose:

Search for Kouhime with full effort → Canon route.

I searched for Kouhime, but… → Isoroku route.

The second option is only available from the second playthrough onward. You also need to see the H event with Yamamoto.

Kou’s kidnapping, the Kenshin route lock, and the Ran route lock all move the story into the second half.

After clearing a route, you can add that faction’s characters when starting a new game. Their event conditions are not visible at the start, and it is unclear if these characters gain affection normally. This has not been fully verified.

Isoroku Route

The Isoroku route starts after every faction except Shimazu and Dokugan-ryuu has either fallen or surrendered.

The route is very similar to the Canon route, but it adds several automatic events involving Keikoku.

The required route events will happen automatically.

Kenshin Route

The Emperor Contest event involving Kenshin starts this route.

An event will lower Kenshin to Level 1.

After that, each talk event will give her +2 levels. Talks stop giving levels after Level 40, so use other methods to train her after that point.

If you have not taken Takeda, you cannot take it until you win the duel against Baba.

After several turns, a Takeda region event will let you duel Baba.

Later, an Izumo event lets you duel Kazuhisa.

Contest members who are already your subordinates can duel directly.

Contest members who are not your subordinates lose to Xavier after several turns.

If Xavier reaches 100 points first, the game ends.

If Kenshin reaches 100 points first, she becomes Emperor. Her War God’s Majesty skill changes to Emperor’s Majesty, and enemies lose 2 action points whenever she deploys.

After this, region events can make every faction except the Demon Army surrender.

If you take even one Demon Army region, the Demon Army will fall.

Xavier then goes to Orochi, opening the Yamatai dungeon.

If you do nothing for 5 turns after this, the game will end.

Ran Route

The Ran route moves forward automatically.

You need to go to Nobunaga.

If the Tenshi sect has already been destroyed, choosing Do not return the Manmaru will end the game. This choice does not appear if the Tenshi sect is still alive.

An event then seals Nobunaga.

On the following turn, Shimazu declares war.

Hell holes will start appearing in multiple regions. Close every hell-hole event to open the Saitama dungeon.

Clear the dungeon to reach the ending.

The ending CG depends on Ran’s affection state. The exact CG condition is not fully confirmed, but Ran being at full affection can lead to a different ending.

Demon King Route

The Demon King route is a Bad End.

Oda Clan

After talking to Kouhime once, you can search for talent.

The talent search can produce Tamazushi Fuuka. She is a story character rather than a generic unit.

Sill

Use the Select event.
The dungeon contains two story H-scenes.
After taking Houjou’s Saitama, another event occurs.
Visiting the Miko Institution also triggers a Sill event.
She eventually leaves during the Canon route.

Kouhime

She automatically becomes an officer soon after the Canon route enters its second half.
A choice event afterward gives Guardian Paper-sama.

Shibata Katsuie

Use the Select event.
Max affection → Trust.
The next max affection event may give the Raise stats choice.
This can trigger the Yoichirou choice event.
Choosing Obey leads to another similar event.
Choosing Obey again is reported to cause a game over. This part is not fully verified.

If you enter the Kenshin or Ran route before Katsuie marries Ranmaru, a choice event appears.

Choose Allow Kouhime to join to get:

+1000 troops
Clear

Ranmaru

Use the Select event.
Deploy Ranmaru with Katsuie to trigger her story event.
Max affection → Trust.
The exact condition for this event is not fully confirmed.
After the event, she marries Katsuie → Clear.

Maeda Toshiie

In the Daimanzoku bonus, choose:

Toshiie: Become a kabuki

Choose it twice.

Toshiie becomes Maeda Keiji and gains:

Attack +3
Defense +3

Akechi Mitsuhide

In the Daimanzoku bonus, choose:

Mitsuhide: Bully him

Choose it twice.

His daughter Gracia replaces him and gains:

All stats +2

Iga Clan

After several turns, Suzume will join automatically.

On the following turn, you can declare war on Iga.

Suzume participates in your attacks and defense against Iga.

After taking one region, the region event Ask Suzume about the Iga army appears.

The Dirty Tactics event then gives 2000 gold. This may require Suzume to be at Love.

Later, the region event Search for Iga’s leader (kill on sight) appears.

It requires Exploration 35.

Destroy Iga through this event to recruit Inukai.

If you do not declare war, Iga eventually declares war on you. In the second half, the Demon army may take Iga first.

Inukai

Recruit him through the Iga event above.
Select event.
Max affection → Trust.
If Kouhime is present, another max affection event occurs.
A Kumo Danjou battle appears in a random faction.
Deploy Inukai and win to obtain Hiragumo, one of the Six Great Treasures.
Another choice event → Clear.

After Inukai reaches Trust:

If Suzume is present, an event raises Suzume’s affection.
If Kanami is present, an event raises Kanami’s affection.

Suzume

Select an event.
After the next turn, another Select event appears.
Max affection → Love.
Explore the dungeon for additional story scenes.
After the required events, a story event occurs on the next turn → Clear.
In the Isoroku route, another choice event appears after she reaches Love.

Hara Clan

Hara declares war automatically after you fight Ashikaga.

Hara Shouji

Shouji is captured when Hara falls.

Persuade him to recruit him. He and Itsuki are mutually exclusive.

For a first playthrough, Shouji is recommended because his all-unit attack is useful early.

Max affection event → Normal.
Max affection event → Trust.
Choose Rance’s mansion tonight to trigger the Itsuki event twice and obtain a CG.
Another max affection event → Clear.

Itsuki-hime

This recruitment option is available from the second playthrough.

When conquering Hara, choose:

Make her an officer and use her freely

This recruits Itsuki.

The first-playthrough path instead uses the other choice.

Select event.
Max affection → Trust.
If Chouhan is your subordinate, an event reveals the location of the folding screen.
Buy Takauji’s Folding Screen from Pluupet Company.
After obtaining the screen, another choice event appears.
Max affection → Clear, Love.
After she talks about the human-faced dog, exploration difficulty for the human-faced dog in Shinano is reduced by 20.

Ashikaga Clan

When Ashikaga demands money, refuse.

This starts the war, and Isoroku will join the fight.

If Isoroku is present and Rance deploys, Rance loses the first battle automatically.

After pushing Isoroku back, an event shows her retreating while her soldiers protect her.

After this event, you need to win one more attack before she can be captured.

Capture her at the first main castle you take after that point. Do not advance too quickly.

When Ashikaga falls, Chouhan is captured and a CG appears.

Ikkyuu can only be captured randomly in battle.

Ashikaga Chouhan

Captured when Ashikaga falls.
Persuade him to recruit him.
His recruitment cost is high early in the game and may change depending on progress.
Max affection → Normal.
Max affection → Trust.
Next choice event changes his name to Ashikaga Poop → Clear.
In the second half, after Kou disappears, a choice event gives Emperor’s Ring.
Emperor’s Ring gives +1 to all stats.
You can dismiss him afterward.

Yamamoto Isoroku

After the retreat event and the event where Chouhan scolds her, capture Isoroku at the first main castle you take.

Select event ×2.
Max affection → Trust.
She reaches Clear only on the Isoroku route.
If Chouhan is your subordinate, a choice event appears.
If Ikkyuu is also your subordinate, another choice event appears.

Ikkyuu

Random capture.
Select event.
Max affection → Clear, Trust.

Miko Union

After your territory borders the Miko Union, the region event I hear rumors of 3G will appear.

Visit it twice.

You can then declare war.

When the faction falls, you capture Natori.

Only one of Natori and Tamazushi Fuuka can reach Clear. Choosing the Natori branch causes Fuuka to die.

Natori

Captured when the Miko Union falls.
Persuade her to recruit her.
Select event.
In the second half, except in the Kenshin route, max affection → Trust.
In the Natori branch, Open Orochi’s hole appears in Yamatai.
This opens a dungeon.
At the bottom, choose Defeat Orochi to fight Orochi.
Orochi has 9999 HP.
Fuuka dies during this event regardless of the choice.
Defeat Orochi → Clear, Love.

The Fuuka branch has another choice event that starts Fuuka Branch 2.

Tamazushi Fuuka

Fuuka joins through the talent search during the first half.

She disappears after you visit the Miko Institution.

Select event.
After taking 3 regions, a choice event gives a CG.
She can reach Normal through a choice event after visiting the Miko Institution.
After Natori joins, another event raises her from Normal to Trust.
After Natori reaches Trust, choose between two options:

Take her to a place related to the miko → Natori branch.

Make up some memories for her → Fuuka branch, Trust.

In Fuuka Branch 2:

Max affection → Love, Clear.

The Natori branch continues with another choice event and then starts Natori Branch 2.

Azai-Asakura Clan

After bordering the clan, an automatic story event will occur. You must take the Tenshi sect first.

Choosing Grope her breasts will start the war immediately.

After taking the first base, Hakkin Dazan appears and Panda attacks until you retreat.

On your next attack, or at the start of the next turn, Yuki-hime goes to Dazan and you get a CG.

When the faction falls, Yoshikage is captured, and another CG appears.

Yuki-hime escapes.

Asakura Yoshikage

Captured when Azai-Asakura falls.
Persuade him to recruit him.
Max affection → Normal.
Max affection → Trust, Clear.
National power increases by +1 in every region you control.

Yuki-hime

After Yoshikage reaches Normal or higher, an exploration event will appear in Texas after some time.

Requirements:

Second playthrough or later.
Exploration 15.

If you explore before she makes other factions hostile toward you, she will join.

Select event.
Max affection choice Hold back for now → Normal.
Choosing Take her right there makes her leave immediately.
Max affection → Trust.
Max affection → Clear, Love.

Hakkin Dazan

After Asakura falls, the region event Recruit a useful sage appears.

Choose:

Offer a wife and take him as a subordinate → recruit Dazan.

Cut him down → receive an item instead.

After recruitment:

Select event.
Max affection → Clear, Trust.
Receive Ukiyo-e.
If Yuki-hime is also your subordinate, another choice event appears.

Takeda Clan

If you leave Takeda alone, it absorbs Houjou and Imagawa.

After your territories border Takeda, you can declare war.

Soon after the war begins, Takeda’s Four Heavenly Kings attack with four units. This can be difficult early in the game.

When you take Takeda’s final castle, the faction falls.

Three of the Four Heavenly Kings then duel Rance, and you capture Sanada Tourin.

There is also an unverified route involving the Assassinate Shingen search event. If it appears after pushing back all Four Kings, choosing it may cause Takeda to fall and make Sanada capturable while the other Kings become free officers.

Sanada Tourin

Captured when Takeda falls.
Select event.
Max affection → Trust, Clear.

Baba Shouen, Yamagata Masakage, Kousaka Yoshikaze

Random capture.
Persuade them to recruit them.
Select event.
Max affection → Trust, Clear.

Tsuchida Moeko

Moeko cannot become a subordinate.

Visit the chicken-wing ranch in Kai Town three times.

She then asks you to show her a cavalry force of 3000.

Meet this requirement to trigger a region event and receive a CG.

Uesugi Clan

You can declare war after bordering Uesugi and reaching the required story point.

If you take Asakura, Uesugi declares war automatically.

Kenshin, Ai, Katsuko, and Torako cannot normally be captured and do not die.

Katsuko and Torako can be captured if they later appear in another faction.

While they are still present, Naoe Ai cannot reach Trust or higher.

First Kenshin Battle

During the first battle between Rance and Kenshin, Kenshin falls in love at first sight.

She retreats, giving you an automatic victory.

Continue Kenshin’s events.

After her training ends, attack again. Kenshin pushes you back, and her uncle Agata Masa takes control of Uesugi.

You then get two choices:

Accept peace → Kenshin CG and Uesugi surrender.

Kill the envoy → continue the war. After several turns, another Kenshin CG appears.

If you destroy Uesugi before this CG event, a region event lets you recruit Kenshin.

After clearing the Kenshin route, Uesugi becomes available at the start of a new game, with Kenshin and Ai already in your party.

Uesugi Kenshin

After Kenshin joins, a region event lets you recruit Ai.

Select event.
Max affection → Trust.
In the second half, outside the Kenshin route, max affection → Love.
In the Isoroku route, another choice event appears after Love.

Kenshin Route — Second Playthrough

When Kenshin is at Trust, deploy her together with Rance.

An event gives you the Uesugi mark.

Later, the Sado region event Picnic with Kenshin appears.

Choose it to enter the Uesugi route.

Two choice events reduce Kenshin to Level 1.

A later choice gives Guardian Paper-sama.

Another choice gives +1 level.

During the Emperor Contest, general choice events give +2 levels each.

At Level 10 or higher, a choice event appears:

Clear, Love.

After Kenshin becomes Emperor, another choice event gives a CG.

Naoe Ai

After Kenshin joins, use the region event to recruit Ai.

Max affection → Normal.
With Kenshin at Love and Ai at max affection, another event gives a CG and raises Ai to Trust.
Max affection → Clear, Love.

Houjou Clan

After bordering Houjou and progressing through its automatic events, you can declare war.

If you wait, Takeda can take Houjou.

If you move against Houjou before Takeda does, Houjou eventually declares war automatically.

If you destroy Houjou first, you capture:

Nanjou Ran
Houjou Souun
Daidouji Komatsu

After Houjou’s story reaches the required point, Ran can be captured randomly in battle.

Two turns after capturing Ran, Souun disappears.

You cannot persuade Ran before this happens.

Houjou Souun

If Ran dies after clearing the oil hole, Souun joins.
Max affection → Trust.
Deploy him against Suzaku → automatic win and Clear.
If Natori is present and Souun is at Trust or higher, a choice event appears.

Nanjou Ran

Random capture.
You can persuade her after Souun disappears.
Select event.
After Houjou falls, a choice event lets you explore the oil hole in the oil field.

The oil-hole timing determines Ran’s fate:

Clear it before the 5th gourd breaks and before the Amaterasu event → Ran Route.
Clear it after the 5th gourd breaks → Ran dies.
Never clear it → Ran eventually dies as the Demon army events progress.

During the Ran route:

After sealing Nobunaga, a choice event appears.
Another choice gives Guardian Paper-sama.
Another choice gives a CG.
More automatic events lead to another CG.
During the later events, including the love-fluid collection event, max affection → Trust.
Before Souun disappears, another max affection event → Clear, Love.

Daidouji Komatsu

Captured when Houjou falls or randomly in battle.
Persuade her to recruit her.
Select event.
Max affection → Normal.
Max affection → Trust.
If your team has no onmyouji officer, another max affection event → Love.
Choice event → Clear, CG.

If you keep Komatsu prisoner for several turns, her fans ask you to release her.

After this, the Owari region event Violate the prisoner Komatsu appears.

It gives a CG, after which Komatsu disappears.

Tokugawa Clan

After Tokugawa’s first event, you can declare war.

If you are fighting Takeda, Tokugawa also joins the fight.

When you take Tokugawa’s last region, a character battle begins.

The tanuki is extremely strong. After charging, it uses a piercing attack.

After defeating it, another story event occurs if Dokugan-ryuu still exists.

In the second playthrough, the Sakakibara Yasumasa event can unlock recruitment of Ieyasu.

Take Tokugawa and Ieyasu joins on the next turn.

When Tokugawa falls, you normally get Senhime’s CG. If Ieyasu joins you, Senhime does not appear automatically.

Tokugawa Ieyasu

If Hide is present:

Max affection → Trust.

Honda Tadakatsu, Sakai Tadatsugu, Ii Naomasa, Hattori Hanzou, Sakakibara Yasumasa

Random capture.
Persuade them to recruit them.
Select event → Normal.
Max affection → Clear.

In the second playthrough, Sakakibara gets another choice event. Completing it allows you to recruit Ieyasu.

Senhime

If Ieyasu is not with you, the region event War Princess Enters Service appears after Tokugawa falls.

Complete it to recruit Senhime.

Select event → Normal.
Select event → Trust.
At full Trust affection, a choice event asks her to participate in 3 lost battles.
Continue the events → Clear, Love.

Kaguya-hime

A region event gives Kaguya-hime a request.

The required parts can be found randomly in the dungeon.

Collect all the parts and talk to her to get a CG.

Imagawa Clan

After bordering Imagawa, its first event occurs, and you can declare war.

If you do not declare war, the Hanny eventually go to Kyou.

You then choose:

Let them go
Send troops to stop them

If you let them go, the arrival in Kyou events begin.

After they arrive, the Kyou region event Investigate the Shinsengumi appears.

Later, the region event Eat at a fine restaurant in Kyou appears.

After several turns, Okita Nozomi joins through a region event.

Nozomi has several affection events, including two normal events, an event after obtaining a candle from the dungeon, and another event at the start.

At max affection, wait for the region event after the next turn and complete it → Love, Clear.

Eventually, Imagawa will declare war.

The Hanny are weak, usually having only 200–300 troops and low stats. A unit with 6 actions can defeat them quickly.

The Get the secret from the Hanny event then appears in Toukaidou.

Choose to meet Imagawa in secret.

You get two choices:

Expose him → Imagawa falls, and Toukaidou goes to Oda.

Better not → take Imagawa by force and receive a CG of Imagawa Kyouko.

Tenshiism

Tenshiism eventually declares war as the story progresses.

Riot events then start appearing in your territories.

You can ignore these riots.

Even if several regions have a riot chance of 100% or more, only one riot can happen per turn. The riot creates one unit of 1000 peasants, which is easy to defeat.

If you destroy the sect during the first half, you receive a CG.

If the sect survives into the second half, you can choose a ceasefire.

After forming a peace alliance, you can use Tenshi riots against other factions.

The riot removes 25% of their troops with no additional condition, making it very powerful.

Daisoujou Shougen

Shougen joins after peace or after the Tenshi sect fights the Demon army.

After the Demon army appears, he learns Three Sisters.

Max affection → Trust.
Max affection → Clear.
Rance gains +5 levels.

Gonri

Gonri joins after Shougen.

Additional choice events can appear if:

Hide is still present.
Katsuie and Suzume are present.

Max affection → Trust, Clear.

Tanegashima Clan

After your territory borders Tanegashima, its first event occurs, and you can declare war.

If you are not at war, Tanegashima can sell gun units to you in Kyou.

If you wait too long, Mouri takes the faction.

When Tanegashima falls, you get a CG and capture:

Yuzuhara Yuzumi

Tanegashima Shigehiko

Captured when Tanegashima falls.
Persuade him to recruit him.
Max affection → Normal.
A choice event occurs if Maria is your subordinate.
Maria then gets another choice event.
Next max affection → Trust, Clear.

Yuzuhara Yuzumi

Captured when Tanegashima falls.
Persuade her to recruit her.
Max affection → Normal.
Deploy her with Rance → event.
Max affection → Trust.
Deploy her with Rance again → event and CG.
Max affection → Love, Clear.
Another choice event occurs during the Tokugawa war involving Hattori Hanzou.
After her human-faced dog event, exploration difficulty for the human-faced dog in Shinano decreases by 20.

Akashi Clan

After bordering Akashi, its first event occurs, and you can declare war.

In the first battle, Nugai Ikuno appears.

You automatically lose the next three battles.

Ikuno dies, and the Hibachi release event happens on the following turn.

After Akashi falls, the region event Search for Akashi’s Secret: Nugai appears and gives a CG.

When Akashi falls, another CG appears.

Choose Take him as a prisoner to capture Kazemaru.

Akashi Kazemaru

Captured when Akashi falls.
Persuade him to recruit him.
Complete Search for Akashi’s Secret: Nugai and see the Hibachi release event.
Max affection → Trust.
Another max affection event changes his solo battle skill to Hibachi and gives all stats +2.
Choice event → Clear.

Takuga Clan

This section is marked as work in progress.

At a certain point, the Land of the Dead appears.

If Mouri controls Chuugoku, an event can transfer Chuugoku to Takuga.

After bordering Takuga, its first event occurs and you can declare war.

Be careful early. Takuga has strong units:

Ryouma — 3000 troops
Kawanoe — 2000 troops
Oka — 2000 troops

If Okita Nozomi is your subordinate, an event sends the Hanny Shinsengumi to Takuga. You can then support their terror attacks in the Land of the Dead.

After starting the war and taking Chuugoku, a region event lets you close the Land of the Dead.

Once closed, it cannot border you and does not appear again.

When Takuga falls, you capture:

Sakamoto Ryouma
Kawanoe Jou
Kawanoe Mine
Oka

After recruiting Ryouma, you can persuade the other three.

Sakamoto Ryouma

Captured when Takuga falls.
Persuade Ryouma to recruit Ryouma.
Max affection → Trust.
A choice event occurs.
Talk to Kouhime twice.
Another choice event reveals the source of the curse.
Defeat the yokai Namenama in Kazusa. It has 2000 troops.
You can then choose whether Ryouma becomes male or female.
If Ryouma becomes female, two choice events follow → Love, Clear.

If the other three Takuga characters are still prisoners, events asking you to release them continue to appear.

The region event Ask Ryouma about Motonari appears when these conditions are met:

You saw all events showing Takuga taking Chuugoku from Mouri.
Oda is at war with Mouri.
You found the Yomotsu Hirasaka dungeon in Izumo.

The yokai Daidara then appears on Floor 7 of Yomotsu Hirasaka.

Kawanoe Jou

Captured when Takuga falls or randomly in battle.
Recruit him after getting Ryouma.
Max affection → Normal.
After an H event with Ryouma, a choice event appears.
Put Ryouma in Jou’s unit → Clear.
Ryouma then disappears.

Kawanoe Mine

Captured when Takuga falls or randomly in battle.
Recruit her after getting Ryouma.
Max affection → Trust.
If Ryouma changes back into a man, a choice event gives a CG.
Put Ryouma in her unit → Clear.
Ryouma then disappears.

Oka

Captured when Takuga falls or randomly in battle.
Recruit her after getting Ryouma.
If Ryouma changes back into a woman, a choice event appears.
A max affection event then reveals the source of the curse.
Clear the Akaheru dungeon → Clear, Trust.

Dokugan-ryuu Clan

After bordering Dokugan-ryuu, the choice event Investigate the Yokai Empire appears in its territory.

In Saitama, choose Defeat the Seii Taishougun.

After defeating him, you can declare war on the Yokai Empire.

Nogiku, Orime, Nova, and Omachi normally cannot be captured and do not die.

If Kazemaru has Hibachi, defeating Nogiku can trigger an event that lets you capture her.

After that, Orime and Nova can be captured through events when you defeat them.

When you defeat Omachi, an event turns her into the Sesshouseki.

These capture events do not always work. Before the second half, you cannot capture these characters even if you defeat them.

When Orime, Nova, and Nogiku are all your subordinates, the region event Ask about Masamune’s weakness appears.

After completing it, Masamune can no longer heal normally. He still heals fully the first time, so you can defeat him quickly with good timing.

If Dokugan-ryuu has already fallen when you fight the Demon army, Masamune joins automatically.

When Masamune and his four followers are all your subordinates, a random event can occur at the start of a turn.

After this, Dokugan-ryuu becomes available at the start of a new game.

If you add Dokugan-ryuu at the start, Omachi can revive again as Masamune’s affection increases.

Nogiku, Orime, and Nova

Capture them through their post-battle events.
Persuade them to recruit them.
Select event.
Max affection → Normal. Orime skips this step.
Max affection → Trust.
After Dokugan-ryuu falls, if Masamune is not your subordinate, max affection → Love, Clear.

Omachi

Joins through Masamune’s choice event.
Select event.
Max affection → Normal.
Max affection → Trust.
After Dokugan-ryuu falls, if Masamune is not your subordinate, max affection → Love, Clear.

Dokugan-ryuu Masamune

If Dokugan-ryuu has already fallen when you fight the Demon Army, Masamune joins automatically.

Select event.
After defeating Omachi, if Masamune has no equipped item, a choice event lets you give him the Sesshouseki.
If Kouhime is still present, max affection → Trust.
After Trust, another choice event revives Omachi → Clear.

Mouri Clan

After bordering Mouri and watching its automatic events, you can declare war.

Mouri cannot normally be captured and does not die.

The three sisters also cannot initially be captured or killed. After the event where onmyouji attack Motonari, they become capturable.

After defeating Daidara, Motonari’s curse disappears on the following turn and his appearance changes.

This only happens after the onmyouji attack event.

When Mouri falls:

If Motonari’s curse is gone, you capture him.
If the curse remains, Motonari dies.

You capture Mouri Teru, Kikkawa Kiku, and Kobayakawa Chinu when Mouri falls, as long as Chinu is still alive.

Before Motonari becomes a spirit general, deploy him with the three sisters to trigger another event.

Mouri Motonari

Captured when Mouri falls.
Persuade him to recruit him.
Select event.
Max affection → Normal.
Max affection → Trust, Clear.

Mouri Teru

Captured when Mouri falls or randomly in battle.
Persuade her to recruit her.
Max affection → Normal.
Max affection → Trust.
The Death Hallucinogen can be found randomly in the dungeon.
Max affection → Love, Clear, CG.

Kikkawa Kiku

Captured when Mouri falls or randomly in battle.
Persuade her to recruit her.
Select event.
Max affection → Trust.
After Mouri falls, a choice event appears.
You must capture Kiku before Mouri falls to see this event.
Max affection → Love, Clear, CG.

Kobayakawa Chinu

Captured when Mouri falls or randomly in battle.
Persuade her to recruit her.
Max affection → Trust.
In the Ran route, after sealing Nobunaga, max affection → Love, Clear.
After all three sisters reach Clear, another choice event appears.
If the Demon army appears, Chinu dies in a story event.

Shimazu Clan

In every route except Ran, the Demon eventually takes control of Shimazu and turns it into the Demon army.

Akirera does not die at this point.

The four Shimazu brothers cannot be captured and do not die during this part.

In the Canon and Isoroku routes, the brothers attack like Takeda’s Four Heavenly Kings as the Demon army events progress.

They can attack four times per turn, so be careful once you border the Demon army.

Wait for the brothers to die one at a time through the story.

In the Kenshin route, Akirera leaves the Demon army as the events progress.

An Izumo region event then lets you duel Akirera.

If you wait too long, the Demon kills Akirera.

In the Ran route, Shimazu declares war on you.

Shimazu then absorbs the remaining factions one at a time.

Akirera and the brothers cannot be captured during these automatic events.

After the required events involving Akirera and each brother, you can capture Akirera.

Shimazu Kidnapping Event

Soon after the war starts, Shimazu can take female officers from your army.

Officers at Love and officers who cannot be dismissed are safe.

If no eligible officer exists, the event does not occur.

On the following turn, a search event lets you kidnap Kurohime.

On the next turn, the four brothers become prisoners.

After this happens, you cannot capture Akirera again.

Ootomo Sourin is a generic Shimazu unit with the Kunikuzushi skill. He is probably the only officer with this skill.

Akirera

Random capture.
Persuade her to recruit her.
Select event.
Max affection → Trust.
When Akirera has more troops than every other Oda officer, max affection → Love, Clear.
If all four brothers are your subordinates while Akirera remains in Shimazu, destroying Shimazu triggers a CG event.

Shimazu Brothers

All four brothers join after you kidnap Kurohime.

Their linked officers are:

Shimazu Yoshihisa → Mouri Teru
Shimazu Kazuhisa → Naoe Ai
Shimazu Toshihisa → Daidouji Komatsu
Shimazu Iehisa → Ranmaru

If the linked officer is present:

Max affection → Normal.

If the linked officer has already reached Clear:

Max affection → Trust, Clear.

If the linked officer has not reached Clear:

Max affection → the linked officer leaves your army.

Amago

Yamanaka Koshika has a series of events where she asks different factions for help.

When all required conditions are met, destroy Mouri.

You then get a CG, followed by a region event that allows Koshika to join.

Required events are:

See the event where Koshika asks Oda for help.
See the event where Koshika’s subordinate dies.
After Mouri attacks Himeji, Oda must have destroyed or forced Akashi to surrender.
After Takuga takes Chuugoku, Oda must destroy Takuga.

Known automatic events are:

Koshika asks Ashikaga, Iga, or Tenshiism for help when you are at war with that faction.
She asks the Hanny for help after Okita leaves the Shinsengumi and Ashikaga has fallen.
Her subordinate dies after you are at war with Mouri and several turns have passed.

Yamanaka Koshika

Select event.
Max affection → Normal.
Max affection → Trust.
Max affection → Love, Clear.

Leazas Reinforcements

In the Daimanzoku bonus, choose:

They arrive in this order:

Kanami → Maria → Leila

Kentou Kanami

Max affection → Normal.
Edo region event → CG.
Use Kanami’s H ticket, which Maria brings when she joins → CG.
Max affection → Trust.
After the Edo region event, max affection → Love, Clear.

Maria

Select event.
Receive Kanami’s H ticket.
After Tanegashima Shigehiko reaches Trust, a choice event gives a CG.
Max affection → Clear.

Leila

Max affection only raises her to Trust if Kenshin is your subordinate.
Max affection → Clear, CG.
Losing a battle against the Demon army can sometimes cause the Demon army to capture Leila.
This event is not guaranteed.
Afterward, attack the Demon army or wait several turns → CG.

Zeth Reinforcements

In the Daimanzoku bonus, choose:

They arrive in this order:

Rizna → Uruza → Magic

Rizna

Two turns after Rizna joins, a choice event appears.

Another choice event occurs after the following turn.

This repeats two more times, with the final event giving a CG.

After that, choose:

Rance’s mansion tonight

You can then find the Lewd Potion randomly in the dungeon.

After obtaining the potion, another choice event appears → Clear, CG.

Uruza

Max affection → Trust.
After taking Izumo, a region choice event appears.
On the following turn, another choice event gives a CG.
Deploy Uruza with Rance → event, Clear, CG.

Magic

Select event ×2.
After the next turn, a choice event gives a CG.
Another choice event gives another CG after the following turn.
After another turn, max affection → Clear.
