The Surgeon can recognize dozens of different phrases, and gives you instant replies. Many conversations reveal hidden and important information about Mellow, the Beast, God, Timesville, Misery Town, and several other characters.

What is the meaning of life?
The Surgeon replies: “Perhaps we’ll find out on the other side.”
What should I ask?
Anything that comes to your mind.
Do you love me?
Certainly, as far as my limitations extend.
For your favourite food, your favourite song, whether you’re gey or straight, whether you smell or I smell, whether you’re stupid or whether I am stupid, as to how you are, what’s up, whether I can kiss you, how you feel, where babies come from, whether you have any friends, and a number of other personal questions, the same answer is given: “Is that the most important thing on your mind?”
Did you use me?
He replies, “We each did what we wanted to.”
Are we parasites?
The Surgeon states that not everybody has the same effect upon the Beast, saying that “some of us are a negative influence and some are a positive one; you have been one of the latter.“
Are we friends?
We are friends, considering the circumstances.

Why am I here?
The Surgeon states that your arrival was not the result of a single event; instead, he says that coincidence, fate, or some interference from the cosmos caused you to end up here after you had been swallowed by God, just as happened to everyone else. He adds that all the things that occurred afterwards were the result of your own decisions, even if you did not realize it at the time.
What is going on?
The Surgeon says that he is carrying out a sacred rite in order to avoid the end of the world; his intention is to sacrifice all those involved and to use his bride as God’s new vessel so that the cycle of life may be restarted.
Where are we?
He replies that you are located within the heart of the Beast; although the interior keeps changing each time organs are taken out and put back in their proper position, he maintains that all this is occurring at the right place and at the right time.
What is this house?
The Surgeon considers the house at which Mellow first woke up to be an ordinary place; it had been abandoned on the surface until Henry came along and took it for himself. In fact, he makes fun of Henry for thinking that discovering the house gave him the right to control everyone else.
Do I matter?
The Surgeon offers one of his most personal replies; he tells Mellow that he is absolutely important since he was a gift from the universe and that none of the ritual could have taken place without him, adding that in a previous life Mellow might have been his own son.
Will everyone be okay?
He states that all those outside the ritual will survive and that their lives will go on in peace as if nothing had ever taken place.
What will happen to us?
The Surgeon admits that everyone involved in the ritual will soon be consumed. He believes this sacrifice is necessary and describes the ending as something beautiful instead of frightening.
Can I leave?
I’m sorry, but this is the end of the road for both of us.
Is this hell?
It might as well be.

He tells Mellow that there is nothing else for him to do The Surgeon states that Mellow has already done all that was possible and ought to be proud of what he has achieved.

What is the ritual?
The Surgeon refers to the ritual as being a combination of surgery, supernatural occurrences, and faith. He says that both of you developed it together, even though Mellow had no intention of taking part. Although God is dying, the ritual will provide him with a new host via his bride and thus start a new cycle.
What miracle?
He says that the miracle is one which science on its own could never about. After having spent many years attempting to bring back the woman he loved, he finally came to the conclusion that divine intervention was the essential element.
What is Endacopia?
The Surgeon says that Endacopia has the meaning “to look within” and compares it to a medical endoscopy in which doctors examine the inside of a patient’s body. He also tells Mellow that he has already completed this journey three different times by going through a toilet.

He describes Hairold as a video game mascot who had been abandoned since children found him too scary.
Who is my guardian angel?
The Surgeon thinks that Mellow is linked to a spiritual power that is beyond his comprehension. He believes that this mysterious guardian angel together with his own surgical enhancements accounts for Mellow’s survival through all the things he has gone through.
Who is Tip?
He describes Tip as a helpful sign possessing remarkable instincts and says that Tip is capable of moving through the ground, even though this ability has certain limitations.
Who is Rodger, my clone, or my reflection?
The Surgeon admits that the reflection was his effort to produce another version of Mellow, but states that the copy never reached a likeness of the original.
Who is God, the Beast, or the Sinking Ship?
The Surgeon replies with just three words: “A magnificent creature.”
Who is Scribbly or the mannequin?
He explains that Scribbly is just a mannequin which Henry bought online since he has the habit of collecting all sorts of things, and the fact that it became sentient was no more than a coincidence.
Who is the parasite that lives in the toilet?
The Surgeon states that the creature is a parasite which feeds on God’s blood; he thinks that it has either already escaped or will shortly be rejected by the new form of God, and he is pleased to see that it is gone.
Who is Henry?
He refers to Henry as the self-styled guardian of the house, and Henry had originally come from the desert before taking refuge in the deserted home.
What is the surface?
The Surgeon describes the surface as an endless desert containing what is left of society, and although people are still able to survive there, life has become very unpleasant.
Did I do good?
The Surgeon smiles at Mellow’s efforts and just replies, “You’ve done an amazing job.“
Questions About Mellow
How did I die?
The Surgeon says that Mellow died from blunt force trauma caused by a mallet. He finds it surprising that Mellow survived for so long after the injury, but the accident took most of his memories.
Am I dead?
You are brimming with life.
Are you my dad?
He gives a short but emotional response: “In another life.“
How old am I?
The Surgeon estimates Mellow’s age by looking at his teeth. He thinks Mellow is about nine years old.
Who am I?
The Surgeon says Mellow’s real name is Rodger. He explains that Rodger came from a broken family and fell off his father’s truck on the way home. After being revived, he chose the name Mellow. The Surgeon is unsure why he picked that name but believes Mellow is special because he reached places in this world that even the Surgeon never could. He also thinks Mellow’s mysterious guardian angel played a major role in that journey.
Who is my dad?
The Surgeon describes Mellow’s father as a deadbeat drunk. There’s not much more to say about him.
Who is my mom?
He explains that Mellow’s mother is stuck in the unhappy family she made with his father. According to the Surgeon, she continues to bear those responsibilities despite everything.
Who is my brother?
The Surgeon says Mellow’s older brother seems to be following the same destructive path as their father.
Who is my sister?
Your younger sibling. She seems to look up to you.
Where is my home?
The Surgeon tells Mellow that his birthplace is far away on the surface, beyond the underground world.
What happened to my home?
The Surgeon says nothing happened to it. The house still stands exactly where Mellow left it. He then raises an interesting point by wondering if Mellow fell from the truck or jumped out on purpose.

What happened to your bride’s memories? Who is your bride?
The Surgeon explains that his bride is actually a mix of two women he loved deeply. He says Mellow unknowingly synchronized both of them through the supernatural elements of Timesville, creating the perfect result. He thanks Mellow for making that possible.
Why are you a surgeon?
The Surgeon says it all started with a simple curiosity about human anatomy. Over time, that curiosity turned into a responsibility, then a tool, and eventually something he views as a reward.
Are you evil?
He refuses to label himself as good or evil. Instead, he says he just does what he thinks is necessary based on his own judgment.
Why are you doing this?
The Surgeon explains that every action serves three purposes: preserving life, saving the woman he loves, and protecting a greater being. He believes this mission is his destined role.
What are you doing?
He says everything he has done has led to this moment. His goal is to achieve the impossible by saving God and keeping it alive for another thousand years.
What is going on?
If you ask again under the Surgeon’s dialogue category, he repeats that he is performing a sacred ritual to prevent the world’s death. His bride will become God’s new vessel through this sacrifice.
Do you have any regrets?
The Surgeon says regret serves no purpose because the past cannot be changed. Still, he admits he wishes he had started this whole plan much earlier.
Have you killed anyone?
He states that he took an oath as a surgeon and never meant to kill. If someone dies during his procedure, he sees it as either an unfortunate failure or a necessary sacrifice.
Who are you?
The Surgeon explains that his real name is no longer important. After everything that happened, he identifies himself simply as “The Surgeon.”
How old are you?
He doesn’t know his exact age but believes he has lived for more than one hundred years.
What is your favorite color?
Red.
How old is your bride?
The Surgeon says his bride is the same age as he is now. However, he thinks she will eventually outlive him.
Where is your bride?
He explains that his bride is technically alive but not truly living. He believes the ritual will change that and allow everyone to witness her ascension.
What’s in your book?
The Surgeon says the book contains notes on nearly everything he’s learned throughout his life. There is so much information in it that he admits he has lost track of it all.
Questions About Timesville
What is Timesville?
The Surgeon states that Timesville is a village situated within the Beast, the sun in the village appearing to revolve around it while at the same time the village itself seems to revolve around the sun. He makes it clear that there is no real sun in Timesville; instead, the light is produced by gases and chemicals inside the Beast, which gives the impression of daylight. This unusual setting is what results in the village having a rapid day and night cycle and causes a distortion of how the inhabitants perceive time. Furthermore, he says that the custom among the villagers of preserving the dead has eventually led to supernatural effects that lie beyond the scope of science.
Then who is the mayor or Mirianne?
The Surgeon refers to Mirianne as the monkey who is the mayor of Timesville. He states that she has inherited her mother’s sense of responsibility and puts in a great deal of effort for the village, although her stubborn nature makes it hard for her to accept help from others.
What is the name of the Chameleon or Ozzie?
The Surgeon states that Ozzie had previously been a broken man since his friends had left him when he was on life support. After he awoke to find himself buried underground, he became obsessed with bringing the dead back to life. Although the Surgeon respects Ozzie’s abilities he thinks that his evil intentions eventually caused his downfall.
What is the identity of Catthew, Beartha, Paisley, Whiskers, Nibbles, and Debbie?
The Surgeon gives a brief reply; he states that they are villagers from Timesville and thinks that Mellow knows them better than himself.
Who is the Turtle?
The Surgeon refers to the Turtle as a cannibal who has lost his sanity and then mentions that almost all of those living inside the Beast have become a bit mad.
Who is Rosie?
He states that Rosie was the mother of one of the villagers; she died peacefully of old age, but her grave became haunted afterwards.
Who are Charlie and Chloe?
The Surgeon stated that although Chloe’s mother had died during childbirth, Charlie and his daughter Chloe had been a happy family, and their lives were brought to an end when Ozzie brutally killed both of them.
Who is T?
The Surgeon regards T as a porcupine and as one of Ozzie’s earlier victims. He thinks that T was the only individual who began to uncover the truth before it was too late.
Who is Arthur?
The Surgeon states that Arthur was a bear who found out the dangers of isolating himself, but he realised that lesson far too late.
Who is Thomas?
He states that Thomas was a frog who lived in Timesville and that he was Ozzie’s very first victim.
Questions About Misery Town
What is Misery Town?
The Surgeon says that Misery Town originally was nothing more than a circus situated in the middle of a bad neighborhood. Some clowns found that their bad luck drew in paying customers, and as a result the circus became so successful that it gradually took over the whole town. In the end all the residents had to depend on the circus in order to survive. Since entertainment always required something new, the old performers were continually replaced by new ones as part of an endless cycle.
Who is the Jester or Ticketo?
The Surgeon says that Ticketo is the ticket seller at Misery Town and that he never pursued any bigger ambitions, which has kept him in the same position throughout his life.
Who is the Pierrot or Ticketa?
The Surgeon states that Ticketa acts as an assistant to Ticketo. Although she has ambitions, she has still ended up being satisfied with the career she has chosen.
Who is Boon?
The Surgeon refers to Boon as a pathetic red clown and describes him as Boone’s twin brother;. He pursued the career which his clown family had expected of him and became known for his strange fear of falling into toilet water.
Who is Boone?
The Surgeon describes Boone as the ideal blue clown, even though he had tried to get away from the family trade. His journey in the end brought him back to the circus together with his twin brother.
Who is the Operation Patient?
The Surgeon states that the patient was a normal man who had been injured in a motorcycle accident and that since he could not afford his medical bills the circus proposed an unconventional remedy. Later on, the Trapezist changed his body, probably in order to prevent anyone from challenging her authority.
Who is the Clown Crawler?
The Surgeon acknowledges that the Clown Crawler was one of his unsuccessful operations. Previously, the man had been a magician until a buzz saw seriously injured him. Even though the Surgeon thinks that he is excellent at surgery, he admits that everybody makes mistakes.
What is the identity of the Cowboy or the Sharpshooter?
The Surgeon states that the Cowboy has skin which is incredibly durable and rubber-like; although the Trapezist had promised that his dangerous role would be only temporary. He has in fact spent many years being the target in shooting acts.
Who is the Trapezist?
The Surgeon calls her an acrobat of exceptional ability who has a natural talent for entertaining people. She always longs for an audience and makes sure that people are watching her perform.
Who are the Four Clowns or the Four Batteries?
The Surgeon describes that Misery Town had a number of tragic accidents, with some of the victims dying and others falling into long-term comas. Rather than burying them, he used their bodies for a more important purpose and they now function as the power source for the new God, which shows that science by itself was never sufficient to achieve a miracle.

What is the Office?
The Surgeon states that the Office was designed as a brutalist workplace for the purpose of accommodating company employees. The project eventually lost its funding since the company decided to put its workers before the building, which left the structure incomplete. This choice resulted in a large number of accidents all of which were ignored. Once artificial intelligence came to take control, the building went on expanding deeper into God’s flesh; at first it looked like a tumor but later turned into something much worse.
Who is the Founder?
The Surgeon describes the Founder as a polite and hardworking businessman who created the Office. The Founder later hired him to perform several procedures with the goal of creating a digital backup of his brain. He wanted his mind to continue leading the company after his death, but his life ended much sooner than expected.
Who is Genesis-01?
The Surgeon states that Genesis-01 is a sentient computer which was made during the early years of the company when it was still engaged in printing activities and that after the Founder had vanished the machine was left behind and abandoned.
Who is the AI?
The Surgeon states that the AI is in fact a corrupted version of the Founder’s brain. Once artificial intelligence was introduced, that digital mind evolved into a power-seeking abomination containing false memories. The Surgeon says that this transformation took place shortly after the cement incident.
Who is the backup of the founder?
The Surgeon states that the Founder’s Backup is an emergency copy of the Founder’s brain. When the AI started infecting the building’s infrastructure, the backup automatically encrypted itself in order to stay safe, and it later played a significant role in restoring God’s inactive vital organs.
Who is Ms. Mania?
The Surgeon states that Ms. Mania is an office worker who has become entirely absorbed in her job. She is now so preoccupied that she has not even realized that her family has vanished. He thinks it is likely that they are still alive somewhere on the surface and is wondering what happened to her.
Who is Harry?
The Surgeon states that Harry is an employee who has trouble with generalized anxiety disorder, even though he conceals it very effectively, he is still a highly emotional individual.
Who is Diana?
The Surgeon states that Diana is always suffering from sleep deprivation, but he doesn’t see this as a serious issue; he merely thinks that some people are naturally inclined to move through life at a different speed.
Who is Gerald?
The Surgeon states that Gerald is a gambler who has a harmless skin condition which causes his skin to appear green. Although he previously had a normal career in an office setting, his gambling addiction eventually came to dominate his life. Nevertheless, the Surgeon thinks that Gerald finally ended up in the place that he had wanted.
Who is the host of the dice game?
The Surgeon states that the Dice Host is the Founder’s cousin; she was never very skilled in business but was good at taking advantage of people for her own benefit, and the Founder eventually appointed her to the Office after yielding to pressure from his family.
