The BEAN achievement is one of the hardest achievements in How to Fish. You need to finish the entire game in under 1 hour and complete all the objectives in that time. However, it can be very tough to complete the full game in a normal playthrough.
If you are trying to unlock BEAN legitimately, you need a dedicated speedrun route, fast boss kills, and a clean final boss fight. Here, I have shared a different and easy method that allows you to get the BEAN trophy without completing the game in 1 hour time period.
How to Get the BEAN Achievement in How to Fish?
The save-file method covered below is an exploit/cheat alternative that skips the 1-hour run by editing your save and sending you to the final Island.
So, if you just want the achievement and do not mind using a save edit, follow the method below. If you want to earn BEAN the intended way, you will need to complete the full game within the 1-hour limit.
The method below is working on patch 1.05.
Step 1: Create a New Save
First of all, start a new game. Give it any name.
Now load into the new game, and then quit back to the desktop. This will create the save file that we need to edit. This step is very important, so make sure you don’t skip it.
Step 2: Find Your How to Fish Save File
Open File Explorer and go to:
C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\LocalLow\Dazed Games\How to Fish\SavesInside the Saves folder, you will find a .txt file with the name of your save.
If you cannot see the file, make sure you actually loaded the new game before quitting. The game only creates the save file if you have entered the game.
Step 3: Edit the Save File
Right-click on the .txt save file and open it with Notepad, Notepad++, or another text editor.
Do not reformat the file. Just find the existing variables and change their values.
Look for these three entries:
"SpawnedIsland"
"MaxIsland"
"FinalBossKilled"Change their values to:
"SpawnedIsland": 4
"MaxIsland": 5
"FinalBossKilled": trueThe exact formatting of your save file may look different, so only change the values. Don’t mess with or rearrange the rest of the files.
Save the file when you are done.

Step 4: Load the Edited Save
Now launch How to Fish again and load the save you just modified.
You will not believe that your character has spawned on the final Island and you are very close to the end of the game. From there, go to the final boat and interact with it to go to the mainland.
Once you do this, the game will trigger the ending, unlock the BEAN achievement, and start the credits.
Can You Use an Existing Postgame Save?
Yes. Many players have reported that the same method can also work with an existing postgame save.
For that version, change these values:
Playtime: 0.0
FinalBossKilled: true
HasFinishedGame: falseThis information is shared by a player who got the achievement this way. But I recommend using the new-save method above because it is the safer option if you are starting from scratch. It also doesn’t mess with your main game progress.
BEAN Achievement Cheat Method
The important save changes are:
SpawnedIsland→4MaxIsland→5FinalBossKilled→true
After saving the changes, load the game, reach the final boat, and interact with it. The BEAN achievement will unlock, and the credits will start rolling.
