Be careful with the colored items because some of them can make Hheily unhappy. Three crosses in a stage will give you a broken heart.

How Colored Items Work in Sucker for Love: Crush Landing
When you give any item to Heily, she reacts differently depending on the item.
Some items can give you a cross instead of a star. If you continue getting three or more crosses during a stage, then your full heart will turn into a broken heart.
Some animals can also be used as colored items, but giving them to Hheily will give you a cross.
Also, you won’t get access to every item from the beginning. Some colors will only unlock when you use certain items or progress through character events.
All Red Items
You can use these items for the Red color:
- Red gifts – Available from the start and can be found on the counter.
- Steamed crab – Put the frozen crab into the pot and wait until it steams.
- Ramen – Call the ramen place when you receive its flyer on your door.
- Peppers – Keep waiting as the peppers cycle through different colors. They sometimes turn red.
All Orange Items
These items can give you Orange:
- Overripe bananas – Bananas become overripe quickly if you don’t feed them to Hheily.
- Ramen – Call the ramen place after receiving the flyer.
- Peppers – Wait while the peppers cycle through their colors until they become orange.
- Goldfish – Feed the goldfish and wait for it to grow. It will turn orange.
Warning: Giving the Goldfish to Hheily gives you a cross.
All Yellow Items
For Yellow, you can use:
- Ripe bananas – Available from the start on the counter. Feed them to Hheily quickly before they become overripe.
- Ramen – Call the ramen place after receiving its flyer.
- Peppers – Wait for the peppers to cycle until they turn yellow.
All Green Items
These items work for Green:
- Green plant – Available from the start in the bathroom.
- Mushrooms – Take the mushrooms from the UV mushroom kit in the bathroom and keep them in your inventory while standing near Hheily. They will eventually turn green.
- Ramen – Call the ramen place after receiving its flyer.
- Peppers – Wait for the peppers to cycle until they become green.
- Leon – Your chameleon starts green and can be given to Hheily.
Warning: Giving Leon to Hheily gives you a cross.
Leon can also change color when placed next to a colored item in your inventory, so you can use this method if you’re trying to get a specific color.
All Blue Items
For Blue, you can use:
- Steamed crawfish – Put the frozen crawfish into the pot and wait.
- Butterfly – You can find a blue butterfly just outside the door from the start.
Warning: Giving the butterfly to Hheily gives you a cross.
All Purple Items
There are currently two ways to get Purple:
- Grapes – Available from the start in the fridge.
- Eggplant – Use water from the bathroom on your neighbor’s plants and wait.
Character Gifts
While playing the story, many characters will give you colored gifts. You can use these if you’re missing a specific color.

Some character interactions can also give you different results if you’re going for bad endings or choose to be mean.
For example, the Divorced Couple can give a red cross if you choose the mean option. Scam Likely can also give a blue cross if you choose the mean option, while Backwards Man may give a yellow cross.
Maria gives an extra gift: if you invite her and start dating her, she can give red hair and a yellow champagne bottle.
Flora’s Flowers
Flora’s flowers aren’t random. She will not give you the exact color you ask for. Instead, she gives you a different color depending on the color you ask for.

Alternative Ways to Get Colored Items
There are also a few other ways to get color, besides the standard items around the apartment
Mysterious Bookseller
While playing the story, a mysterious bookseller may call you.
If you answer the call correctly, she will give you a colored item.
Sometimes, you get the color that you currently need. So do not use the item immediately.
Save it until you can’t find that color from other items.
Love Letters
You can also find some useful items by searching through the pile of love letters.
These items can give the colors that you currently need.
However, be careful when opening them.
There are two dangerous letters:
- One gives you a point toward darkness.
- Another gives you a red item, but you can no longer open any more letters afterward.
So don’t try to open all the letters if you’re trying to avoid those effects.
Late-Game Monsters
During Stage 3, three monsters will appear.
They can give you crosses for:
- Red
- Orange
- Blue
The monsters can still appear even if you’ve already used that color.
If you’re going for a better ending, then overexpose the monsters first instead of simply taking the colored items from them.
